I became interested in amateur radio in Rhode Island after two years of CB radio in 1976-1978. My Dad taught me Morse Code, as he was former Signal Corps in the Army's Pacific region during WWII. I passed the Novice exam at the home of KA1BVL in December 1978 and became KA1CCA in January 1979. After passing the Extra exam in Boston in 1982, and holding several different callsigns throughout the years, I finally settled on a 4-land call, KG4O. Fun fact: I've never owned a beam antenna, but managed to cobble together a mixed DXCC total of 315/310 countries. I also have earned 448 islands for the Islands on the Air (IOTA) award and hold certificate # 1073. My first love is CW and can be found on all bands using CW around 30-35 WPM and FT4/FT8 digital modes. 

Formerly in Cape Coral, FL, I now reside in North Fort Myers, FL with my lovely wife Susan.
